PSY CA #36868
Dr. Max Macias is a psychologist who provides evidence-based therapy for children, adolescents, parents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and other mild to moderate mental health concerns. He has specialized experience in child and adolescent mental health, pediatric behavioral health, parenting challenges, and LGBTQ+ psychology, and he enjoys supporting clients across the lifespan.
Dr. Macias draws on dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), with a focus on the present moment, education, and building practical coping skills. He is passionate about increasing access to care and offers affirming, culturally responsive treatment that honors each client’s identity and experiences.
In his first session with a new client, Dr. Macias takes time to get to know them, their history, and what brings them to therapy, and talks through their goals for treatment. He then shares his clinical impressions and recommendations, and together they build a treatment plan that fits the client’s needs. From there, weekly sessions focus on learning and practicing skills that clients can put to use in their daily lives.
